Water Testing on the Tillingbourne
a collaboration with Water Rangers and Zero Carbon Guildford
In 2026 we intend to sample the Tillingbourne at 4 sites, and test for E. Coli and other pollutants. E. Coli tests are £15 each and are dependent on donations. Please consider giving via our local giving page.

Recent News
For 2026 we are working with Water Rangers UK and the River Wey Trust.
They have agreed to fund three sites on the Tillingbourne to have:
Monthly chemical testing.
Weekly ecoli testing.
3 x one -off eDNA tests to work out who did the poo.
We will need volunteers to collect water samples from 4 points along the river and someone to deliver the ecoli samples to Zero in Guildford on Fridays.
We hope to involve local school groups and others in the habitat improvement scheme.

We will use our fundraising (please follow the link above) to fund tests for a fourth site on the Tillingbourne so we can cover more of the river.
As part of the project we will also be organising a working party to restore 300m of river habitat by removing invasives and planting natives.
